"Ask yourself: After 28 years of Ivy League presidents, isn’t it time we elected a president who understands the needs of ordinary Americans?"

Ivy League idiots like Barack and Hillary are ruining America

by John Myers

“I don’t know who went to this place: William Howard Taft, William Jennings Bryan, William Tell, whoever. Their spirit is dead, if they ever had one. It’s gone. You’re building a rat ship here, a vessel for seagoing snitches. And if you think you’re preparing these minnows for manhood, you better think again because I say you are killing the very spirit this institution proclaims it instills.” — Lt. Col. Frank Slade as played by Al Pacino in the 1992 movie “Scent of a Woman”

Poor Hillary Clinton. She just couldn’t help herself and had to ditch the luxury Scooby van that she was using to campaign among the serfs — I mean the middle class in Iowa — after a tortuous three days. She flew back to her bagmen — I mean her supporters — in New Jersey.

Hillary wants to connect with Americans and show them how she understands the woes of ordinary citizens. Just one problem, she has all the charm of Jackie Onassis on a bad day and even the sunglasses to prove it. She showed that when she went incognito into a Chipotle restaurant for lunch in Maumee, Ohio. In the real world an actual sighting of Hillary is as about as rare as seeing Elvis Presley.

Hillary has none of the warmth and likability of her husband, former President Bill Clinton, who was always happy to drink a beer with someone and eat fries and gravy. Hillary has the same affliction as President Barack Obama. They both suffer from Poison Ivy League. You can’t make that same argument about Bill, aka Bubba, who went to Yale. With Bill you could take the boy out of Arkansas but you couldn’t take Arkansas out of the boy. No such luck with Hillary Rodham Clinton, who just can’t rid herself of Wellesley and Yale. And if recent history is any indicator, America will elect her president in spite of that or perhaps because of that.

Consider the presidents and their colleges since Ronald Reagan:

•George H.W. Bush: Yale University
•Bill Clinton: Georgetown University, University of Oxford and Yale Law School
•George W. Bush: Yale University and Harvard Business School
•Barack Obama: Occidental College, Columbia University and Harvard Law School

Ivy League institutions, including Yale, Harvard and Columbia, proclaim to accept only the best and brightest. Yet under their graduates’ presidencies, the nation has gone to hell.

This became apparent to me last week when Hillary was stumbling across Iowa and a friend sent me The Harvard Crimson as an indicator of what ultra-left progressives are writing.

One story left me dumbfounded. Forget who, what, where, when and why. In the link below there is barely a mention of the who, and I think the what is about free speech. It reads like gibberish or shows a lack of intelligence on my part. I am willing to let you decide by reading it here.

I just love how these kids call themselves the “John Stuart Mill Society” after dropping the name “Pforzheimer House.” I don’t know what or who Pforzheimer is or was, and I am not willing to get a headache looking it up. What I, along with the other dummies who attended the University of Calgary, do know is that John Stuart Mill was one of the great philosophers, so these Harvard kids have an inflated opinion of themselves.

I believe that IQ (intelligence quotient) has an inverse relationship to EQ (emotional intelligence). Super smart people often do not seem to understand ordinary people and often focus on their accolades, such as Mensa membership. It must make them feel superior.

As a teen, I met a genius who was downright stupid. I went out for the freshman high school football team, and a kid showed up with a prototypical build. After the first week, the coach cut him. We would stand in the huddle with him, and he couldn’t remember the plays. We had three basic plays: run right, run left, run up the middle. This kid wrote his locker combination on his arm to remember it.

A week later, classes started. The chemistry teacher was writing out Bohr’s law. I sat clueless. The kid who I thought was mentally handicapped rose up, went to the blackboard and began to finish an equation that almost dropped the teacher in her socks. In two years, that kid graduated high school and went to Harvard.

I am not saying all Ivy League graduates are idiots. Malcolm Gladwell’s “Outliers: The Story of Success” provides a special insight into genius. He wrote about a man named Chris Langan, who reportedly has an IQ of 195 but has never found any happiness or success in his life. Gladwell contrasted him with the great physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, the father of the atomic age who oozed charm.

Just because someone graduates from an Ivy League school doesn’t qualify that person as a leader or as someone who can connect with real people and their real problems. Yet graduates of Ivy League schools saturate our government. In 2014, Huffington Post reported:

More members of Congress attended Harvard University than any other higher education institution, with 47 elected officials on Capitol Hill counted as Crimson alumni, according to data compiled and provided to The Huffington Post by Find The Best.

Georgetown University scores the distant runner up spot, with 20 members of Congress counted as alumni, followed by Yale University with 18.

This is a lot of elected officials from ivory tower institutions claiming they have an understanding of what Americans want and what the nation needs. I bet that not 1 in 10 wants to be caught dead spending an evening at the bar with Joe Sixpack and that few ever go to IHOP.

I read that during the dark days of the Soviet Union, General Secretary Leonid Brezhnev would ride every day from his luxury apartment to the Kremlin in his bulletproof limousine. He didn’t have the slightest idea about what the people on the streets were suffering: KGB brutality, shortages and outright despair. It turned out he didn’t have to care. He died a decade before the Soviet Union imploded. The society he ignored was left to clean up a mess that exists to this day. I believe that if Hillary Clinton, with her Ivy League detachment, is elected, it will not be so very different for the United States in a decade or two.

Ask yourself: After 28 years of Ivy League presidents, isn’t it time we elected a president who understands the needs of ordinary Americans?
